大陸補助孕婦增補葉酸成功減少畸形兒

大陸衛生部門對孕婦推出「增補葉酸」計劃，成功降低畸形兒出生率。

依照國際標準，大陸是嬰兒出生缺陷發生率較高的地區，據統計，新生兒缺陷率達5.6%左右，先天殘疾兒童總數則高達80到120萬。據衛生部門監測，致死率極高的神經管缺陷是大陸主要五大出生缺陷疾病之一，但如果透過增補葉酸進行早期干預，降低缺陷發生率效果明顯。

因此自2009年起，中國衛生部推出「增補葉酸預防神經管缺陷」項目，共有約三千萬名農村孕婦受惠，神經管缺陷發生率明顯降低。婦女自我保健意識和防病知識也因此增強。
