中國大陸《威鋒網》周二 (28 日) 引述獨家消息報導，蘋果 (Apple) 新一代 iPhone 智慧手機的螢幕像素將較現有 iPhone 5 暴增一倍，且採用更窄邊框，預定 9 月份出貨。
報導引述內部消息人士透露，蘋果下半年重大產品 iPhone 5S 或 iPhone 6 的顯示螢幕像素數量，將由 iPhone 5 的 73 萬大增至 150 萬。報導指出，這意味若下一代 iPhone 螢幕尺寸維持現有 4 吋，則顯示解析度將大幅提升。
目前 iPhone 5 配備的「Retina (視網膜)」等級螢幕，解析度為 1136x640 像素，密度達 326 ppi。但對手宏達電 (HTC) 今年推出的旗艦新機新 HTC One，螢幕顯示解析度卻高達 468 ppi。
《GottaBeMobile》指出，若上述消息屬實，且蘋果採用標準 16:9 螢幕比例，意味 iPhone 5S 的顯示解析度可能接近 1600x900 像素。《MacRumors》則推測，若蘋果將 iPhone 5S 螢幕解析度提升至 1704x960 像素，相當於共 160 萬畫素，則解析密度可飆上 489 ppi。
不過《GottaBeMobile》也揣測，若 iPhone 5S 螢幕像素數量翻倍增，可能是為了螢幕更大的 iPhone 6 鋪路。
《威鋒網》報導補充，iPhone 5S 的螢幕邊框將較現有 iPhone 5 更窄。此外，該機生產工作已經備料，並排定即將在今年 9 月份出貨。
