豌豆站著長　頭好壯壯產量增

彰化縣是豌豆的生產重鎮，每年農曆年前農民都會採收豌豆，當做賺年終獎金，因此豌豆可說是農民眼中的綠金，然而豌豆不但有病蟲害多等管理問題，因豌豆為匐匍式趴著地生長，因此農民在採收時也得蹲下或彎著腰採收，可說是相當辛苦。
 
台中農改場為改善上述豌豆種植管理的問題，研究多年後發表台中16號豌豆，該新品種豌豆不但具有抗白粉病及病蟲害等特性，使產量增加，還採用直立式栽培法，讓豌豆立著生長，也更便於採收。（孫英哲／彰化報導）
